Graduate Cover Supervisor – Flexible Work in Portsmouth & Southsea

What is a Cover Supervisor?
A Cover Supervisor plays an essential role in secondary schools, supervising lessons when the regular teacher is absent. You will manage the classroom, ensure students stay on task with pre-set work, and maintain a positive learning environment. There’s no lesson planning or marking required, making it a great opportunity for recent graduates to develop classroom management skills and gain valuable experience working with young people.
As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task with set work
- Maintain a calm and organised classroom environment
- Build confidence in managing groups of students aged 11-16
- Gain valuable experience in a school setting, ideal for those considering a career in teaching or education
Requirements:
- Recent university graduate (preferably in Portsmouth, Southsea, or surrounding areas)
- Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
- Strong communication skills and confidence in managing classroom behaviour
- A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to adapt quickly
- Flexibility to work when needed, with availability during school hours
- An enhanced DBS check (or the willingness to apply for one)
