Are you a recent graduate with a minimum 2:2 degree classification?

Are you eager to gain or build on experience working with special needs?

Are you looking to gain experience before undertaking your PGCE or further qualifications?

Make a real impact to the learning and development of children with special needs as you take on this Special Needs Assistant role in an 'outstanding' school in Hounslow.

This teaching assistant role will be full time for an academic year as a minimum and is to start in September.

The School

The school caters for primary aged children with autism across the spectrum and moderate learning difficulties, with classes holding up to 10 students, a teacher and up to 3 other Teaching Assistants.

The Role:

The role involves supporting primary children with autism in class and across the school 1:1, 2:1 and in small groups. This additionally will include adapting lessons, creating innovative resources, report taking, liaising with therapists and overall support of pupils in your care.

To be successful you will need to be:

  • Able to commit to full-time work for an academy year minimum
  • Experienced and/or interested in supporting autism, learning difficulties and social difficulties
  • Safeguarding trained or happy to complete safeguarding training
  • Open to supporting pupils with personal care, personal hygiene and/or nappy changing
  • Committed to the development of children and young people with special needs
  • Able to motivate pupils to fulfil their full potential in education and in society
  • Able to be a role model to pupils and enable them to make appropriate choices
  • Good knowledge of national curriculum and confidence in Maths, English support
