Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: South Shields
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £90–£100 per day (depending on experience)

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to join schools across South Shields from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience, develop your skills, and take the first step towards a rewarding career in education.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted support to students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons and classroom activities
  • Encouraging student participation, confidence, and academic progress
  • Helping to maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment
  • Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents where appropriate
  • Applying and developing your subject knowledge within a classroom setting

About You

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree (Education-related degrees are advantageous but not essential)
  • Have a genuine interest in working with children and young people
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people (desirable but not essential)
  • Hold a DBS certificate on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
