Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary Education
Location: Southampton
Start Date: November 2025

Whether you're considering teacher training in the future or looking to gain hands-on classroom experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in primary schools across Southampton. The role is to start from 3rd November on a rolling basis initially but could lead to a temporary role.
About the Role:
- As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers to support pupils in the classroom, either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
- You'll gain valuable experience across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping pupils with their learning, behaviour, and confidence.
Ideal for Graduates Who:
- Are considering a career in teaching or applying for a PGCE or teacher training
- Have a degree in any subject (education-related or otherwise)
- Are passionate about working with children and supporting their development
- Want to build classroom experience in a supportive environment
- Are enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn
Requirements:
- Degree (childcare or psychology based subject are desirable)
- Experience working with children (e.g., volunteering, tutoring, mentoring, childcare) is desirable
- A genuine interest in education and primary teaching
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
