Graduate Teacher Training
Job description
Join Our Salaried Teacher Training Programme
Based in Cambridge | Start January or September 2026
Salary: £22,000–£25,000 per year
A Different Way to Become a Teacher
If you’re looking for a route into teaching that offers stability, hands-on experience, and financial support, this two-year salaried training programme in Cambridge could be the ideal fit. Work in one school, earn a salary, and complete a fully funded PGCE and QTS while developing professionally every step of the way.
What This Programme Offers
A Two-Year Journey Designed for Future Teachers
Instead of jumping straight into teacher training, you spend your first year getting to know school life inside out.
Year 1: Immersion Through Experience
- Work as a Cover Supervisor in a busy secondary school
- Lead classes with prepared work
- Build confidence in managing behaviour and supporting learning
- Collaborate with subject teachers and pastoral teams
- Gain a realistic understanding of the teaching profession
Year 2: Formal Teacher Training
- Step into a trainee teacher role
- Teach your own classes with guided support
- Plan engaging lessons and assess pupil progress
- Study for a fully funded PGCE
- Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Why This Path works
This model is ideal for people who want to learn by doing.
You will benefit from:
- A salary of £22,000–£25,000 from day one
- No tuition fees — your PGCE is completely funded
- A stable placement in one Cambridge school for the entire programme
- Expert mentoring and structured professional development
- Daily classroom experience that builds confidence gradually
- A clear pathway to a full-time teaching role upon completion
Who We’re Looking For
This opportunity suits individuals who:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree
- Enjoy working with young people
- Communicate well and stay organised
- Want a meaningful, long-term career in education
- Are motivated, resilient and eager to learn
- Can commit to two years in a school in Cambridge
Your School Placement
You will join a supportive, forward-thinking secondary school in Cambridge that values new talent and invests in developing future teachers. You’ll be part of the team from the start, not just a trainee.
