Job description

Are you a recent graduate in Maths, English, Science, Geography, or History looking to gain valuable school-based experience before pursuing teacher training?

We are working with a welcoming secondary school in Rochdale seeking enthusiastic and motivated graduates to join their team for a one-year paid placement. This is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in education, develop classroom confidence, and build the skills needed for a future career in teaching.

The role will provide:

  • Paid experience within a secondary school environment
  • Opportunities to support and cover lessons across your specialist subject area
  • Experience working with students across KS3 and KS4
  • Insight into the expectations and responsibilities of teaching
  • Ongoing support and guidance from experienced school staff
  • Exposure to behaviour management, lesson delivery, and classroom routines

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Maths, English, Science, Geography, History
  • Be considering a future career in education or teacher training
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude
  • Be passionate about supporting young people in their learning and development

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. The school is looking for graduates with enthusiasm, commitment, and a genuine interest in education.

This role is perfect for aspiring teachers looking to gain meaningful classroom experience before applying for PGCE, Schools Direct, or teacher training programmes.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
