We are working with a Southampton Secondary School who are looking to recruit a graduate mentor to work with a variety of students on the school site.
The role itself is very diverse and you will be required to undertake a number of duties including:
- Working with learners who have additional educational needs
- Working in small groups or 1:1 to break down learning barriers for young people
- Supporting the classroom teacher with core subjects and delivering differentiated tasks
- Stepping in to cover lessons should the support be required at busy periods
- Managing behaviour in line with the schools behaviour policy
- Support the pupils emotional needs and ensure pastoral support is provided
The schools aim is to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to achieve his or her best. They are extremely successful and provide a personalised education which is always tailored to the individual needs of the pupil. They school is the most improved Secondary school in Southampton in the last academic year.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- To hold a degree
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion
- Be able to think on your feet and adapt your approach based on pupil and situation
- Be able to build a rapport with vulnerable students
Ideally we are looking for candidates with full time availability, however part time will be considered for the right candidate.
