Graduate Future Teachers Programme – Winchester (Secondary Schools)

Start Date: September 2026

Teaching Personnel are recruiting graduates to join our Future Teachers Programme, designed to support aspiring teachers as they transition from university into the education sector. This programme is ideal for graduates who want valuable school-based experience before enrolling on a PGCE or other teacher training routes.

The Role: Cover Supervisor

Successful candidates will be placed in secondary schools across Winchester as a Cover Supervisor.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Covering lessons during short-term teacher absences
  • Supervising pupils while they complete pre-set work
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Ensuring students remain focused and engaged throughout lessons

No lesson planning, marking or active teaching required
Gain first-hand classroom experience
Ideal preparation for future teacher training

During Your Placement You Will:

  • Keep a reflective journal of your day-to-day experiences
  • Observe lessons in your subject specialism and across other subjects
  • Develop knowledge of teaching strategies, behaviour management and differentiation
  • Learn how schools support pupils pastorally, including assemblies and registration
  • Understand key school policies and how they are applied
  • Learn the syllabus within your subject area and apply your degree knowledge
  • Support pupils with coursework and examination preparation

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
