  • Excellent insight into daily rewards and challenges in a secondary school

Are you a graduate teaching assistant looking to gain the relevant experience prior to beginning a teacher training programme?

Our client school in Oldham is looking for a graduate teaching assistant with aspirations of becoming a qualified teacher to join their support department on a full time basis, supporting students with moderate learning difficulties and work cross-curricular supporting pupils in their studies.

- Invaluable experience prior to a PGCE application

- Full time graduate teaching assistant post in a secondary school

- Collaborative learning support team

Our client school is a small secondary academy in Oldham, with less than 800 students currently on roll, with a mixed non-selective admission policy. The school was recently voted into the top 5% most improved GCSE results in Greater Manchester, which has been accredited to a innovative approach to teaching and learning in which students and staff are able to ensure progress in subjects. The majority of students on roll are of minority ethnic backgrounds with a high number of those speaking English as an Additional Language so previous experience supporting students or the ability to speak a number of languages would be advantageous. The school is situated between Royton and Shaw in Oldham, and sits along a number of regular bus routes.

“We are looking for a graduate teaching assistant to join us from September and to work with us for the full academic year, supporting our students across the age and ability ranges. The incoming graduate will support students with learning difficulties as well as those behind target grades in a number of subjects” – Head of Learning Support
