Graduate teaching assistant

Do you have experience working with school aged children and ambitions to become a teacher? Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an 'Outstanding' school, that serves as a specialist SEN outside Hull city centre. Due to changes within their support team they are seeking to hire a graduate teaching assistant on a full time basis, starting in the new academic year.

To be considered for this teaching assistant role, graduates applying will ideally have;

  • Previous experience working with children of secondary age (11-16)
  • Full time availability until at least January 2019 and possibly until July
  • Commitment to working as part of a team , full time from 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum within core subject or commitment to learning
  • An out-going and conscientious personality as you'll work with children varying backgrounds

This role as a graduate teaching assistant is full time (Monday - Friday) from 8:30am to 3:00pm each day, you'll report to classroom teachers and heads of department and year group leaders, with the aim to improve pupils confidence in school and boost attainment and interest in subjects, particularly with children in Year 10-11 preparing for their lives post secondary education. Previous experience working as a teaching assistant is desired but not essential; you'll be given full support and training by this school and have the opportunity to partake in whole school training (CPD) with teaching staff. The successful graduate working as a teaching assistant will support small groups within lessons, deliver 1:1 support to children slightly behind their expected target grades with an overall aim to improve attainment.

Situated north of Hull city centre, roughly 20 minutes via bus, this is an outstanding mixed secondary school with an excellent reputation. If you are a confident graduate looking to work as a teaching assistant before your teacher training application for 2019, this school offers paid teacher training and would be a great option for you.

To be considered, please submit your CV via email or contact Harry in the Teaching Personnel Hull SEN branch for more information about this position which is an immediate start.
