Functional Skills Tutor – Basford, Nottinghamshire

£25–£30 per hour | Flexible hours | 1:1 and small-group tuition

TP Tutors is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutors to provide tailored support in Basford and the surrounding Nottinghamshire area. This is a rewarding opportunity to help learners develop essential skills in English and maths that will benefit them academically, professionally, and in everyday life.

About the Role

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will deliver engaging one-to-one and small-group sessions in homes, schools, or local community venues. Your lessons will focus on building practical literacy and numeracy skills, boosting learner confidence, and preparing students for Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level through to Level 2.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality tuition in English and maths (Entry Level–Level 2)

• Adapt teaching methods to meet a range of learning needs and abilities

• Break down key concepts into clear, practical learning steps

• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback after sessions

• Follow safeguarding and child protection guidelines

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the Functional Skills curriculum

• Teaching or tutoring experience with young people and/or adults

• Experience supporting SEND and/or SEMH learners is desirable

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

• Up-to-date safeguarding training
