Full-time Learning Support Assistant
Location: Barry (Vale of Glamorgan)
Pay rate: 11.83ph
Position: Full-time (Monday-Friday)
Start date: September 2023
Teaching Personnel are currently searching for motivated, passionate classroom support assistants to work within Barry and The Vale of Glamorgan. The positions we have available are from September 2023 and are ongoing for the remainder of the academic year. The positions are full-time, and the working hours are Monday-Friday (8.30am-3.30pm).
The primary schools we work in partnership with need dedicated individuals who are open to working with children from Nursery – Year 6. It would be desirable that you are willing to support in a 1:1 role but this is not essential.
You could be working one-on-one or in a small group, supporting children with their education, behavioural and social development, helping children who find it difficult to learn because they have dyslexia, a disability, a health issue, or those who don’t speak English as a first language.
Being a Learning Support Assistant requires you to be an empathetic and compassionate person who provides a nurturing learning environment.
Whilst previous experience with children in a professional capacity is desirable. However, we also encourage applications from those with personal experience and/or a passion for working with children.
The day-to-day responsibilities for this position include:
- Motivating your pupils to achieve beyond their potential.
- Supporting and encouraging pupils in their schoolwork.
- Encouraging children to communicate.
- Ensuring pupils feel comfortable and confident in their own abilities.
- Looking after vulnerable children who require a dedicated person to manage their physical needs, including their hygiene.
- Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks.
- Supporting children during social activities, outings, and sports events.
- Assisting Teachers to plan learning activities, prepare learning materials, complete
Essential Criteria:
- Child only DBS on the update service
- Registered with EWC (Education workforce council)
- 2x Professional references
- Right to work document
You will have full support with obtaining the above.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
