Job Advert: Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Catholic Secondary School

Location: Lovely Catholic Secondary School, Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full Academic Year (with a view to permanent placement)
Working Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 08:15am – 15:00pm (term time only).

Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young learners? We are currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and nurturing Catholic secondary school community this September.

You will be working primarily with Year 7 and Year 8 students, providing vital classroom support, particularly for those with low ability levels and special educational needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people and who thrives in a supportive, faith-led educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting students with additional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities and learning resources
• Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Monitoring student progress and offering tailored support
• Working collaboratively with the SENCO and wider pastoral team

Requirements:

• Experience working with children with SEN and/or low ability is essential
• A minimum of Grade C in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
• A patient, caring, and empathetic nature
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning across the curriculum
