Teacher of English


Role: Full time
Type: Temp to Perm contract
Start: November 2019
Pay: GBP115-GBP175 per day
Location: Darwen

The Head Teacher of a large, good secondary school near Darwen is looking to appoint a committed, excellent and aspirational English practitioner who is ready for the next step in their career.

She is looking for someone who is passionate about English, and believes that high quality teaching can be shared and developed, and that any child can achieve the highest grades regardless of their background or prior attainment.

The successful candidate will be working alongside Head of English, Assistant Principal and Director of Learning for English, as well as a devoted, vibrant team which also includes leaders of Key stage 3 and 4 English. The Head of English is a very experienced leader of the subject and she has established a strong team ethos and clear direction for further improvement. The successful candidate will have excellent role models and mentors.

Your duties:
• Using agreed procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on progress and attainment of students.
• Using knowledge of academy policy, plan, deliver, evaluate and assess lessons differentiated to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning.
• Preparing students for internal and external tests and examinations informing and using whole-school data to raise expectation and standards of achievement;
• Using a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles and clearly communicate learning objectives and expectations.
• Using relevant classroom management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place.
