Job description

Design and Technology Teacher – Food Technology – Northampton Area

Are you a qualified Food Technology teacher looking to inspire young minds in Northampton schools? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting passionate and engaging educators to fill long and short-term positions in local secondary schools.

With a growing focus on healthy eating, sustainability, and food science in schools, Food Technology has never been more relevant. We are looking for educators who can bring the subject to life—teaching students the skills they need not just to cook, but to understand nutrition, food origins, and the science behind food preparation.

You’ll be teaching across KS3 and KS4, potentially supporting GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition courses. Our schools are well-equipped with practical kitchens and resources, and many are looking for innovative practitioners who can embed cross-curricular themes such as science and PSHE into their food lessons.

You will be confident planning and delivering engaging lessons that include both theory and practical work, and you’ll understand how to manage a safe and productive food tech environment. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT, if you are passionate about food and education, we want to hear from you.

Requirements:

  • QTS or equivalent (specialism in Food Technology preferred)

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum

  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
