Early Years Teaching Assistant

The SENCo of a primary school in Blackburn is looking to recruit an engaging and pro-active Teaching Assistant who has experience of supporting young children with their speech, language and communication development. The successful candidate will provide general classroom support in the school’s Reception class and will liaise closely with outside agencies to deliver focused sessions to pupils identified as needing additional support in relation to their speech, language and communication.  The position is full-time, Monday to Friday (08:30 – 15:30) and is to start 12th April 2021.

The school is an Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ primary school in Blackburn, located a 5-minute drive from the M65. The school is described to be ‘thriving’. Staff morale is high; all staff are provided with good professional support and training. There is a strong sense of teamwork, which is reflected in the way that staff work to support all pupils. Pupils make great strides forward in their personal development. They are caring, respectful individuals who enjoy coming to school. Pupils behave well and are eager to learn.

Essential Requirements:

-          Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (equivalent or higher)

-          Minimum of 1 years’ Teaching Assistant experience in EYFS

-          Experience of providing focused speech, language and communication support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
