Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in the Kirkby area that is looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant from October 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and caring individual who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will provide dedicated support to pupils both on a 1:1 basis and through targeted small-group interventions, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes academically, socially and emotionally.
Your Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Deliver personalised support for pupils with additional needs.
- Work with children who may have:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Behavioural or emotional difficulties
- Collaborate with class teachers and SEN staff to adapt learning activities and resources.
- Support the delivery of EHCP outcomes and personalised support plans.
- Encourage confidence, independence and positive engagement in learning.
- Use effective strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Track pupil progress and share observations with relevant staff.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience supporting pupils with SEND in an educational setting.
- Is confident working with a range of additional needs, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH.
- Has experience delivering both individual and small-group support.
- Can build positive relationships with children and staff.
- Demonstrates patience, resilience and a nurturing approach.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant transferable experience (preferred).
- Works well as part of a team and can use their own initiative when required.
