Job description

English Tutor – Wythenshawe

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and committed English tutors to support learners in the Wythenshawe area. This is a rewarding opportunity for experienced educators who are passionate about helping pupils develop confidence and skills in English.

Learners may be outside of mainstream education due to SEND, SEMH, medical needs, or gaps in learning. As an English tutor, you will play a key role in re-engaging students, supporting their literacy development, and helping them work towards their academic goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivering engaging 1:1 tuition sessions in English (both literacy and curriculum-based support)

  • Planning and adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs and abilities

  • Encouraging pupil confidence and motivation through tailored support

  • Tracking progress and providing feedback to parents, carers, or local authorities

Requirements:

  • Previous experience teaching or tutoring English (QTS desirable but not essential)

  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to adapt content to different levels

  • Experience supporting children or young people, ideally including those with SEND/SEMH

  • Ability to work independently and build positive relationships with learners

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
