Job description

We are looking for dedicated and passionate English Tutors to work with pupils outside the traditional school setting, across Gateshead. You will provide one-on-one tuition in the home, school or local community hub to help students improve their English Literature and Language skills, gain confidence, and reach their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored English sessions to pupils based on their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Track student progress and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement, using our bespoke reporting platform.
  • Build positive relationships with students, encouraging a growth mindset and self-confidence in their abilities.
  • Support students in exam preparation, homework help, and improving their overall maths skills.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different levels of understanding and learning styles.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of the UK English National Curriculum for Key Stage 3 or 4,  depending on the role.
  • Previous experience tutoring English to students outside of the school system or those with additional needs, is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Qualified Teacher Status in English or the equivalent tutoring experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
  • Child workforce Enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to purchase one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
