English Teacher - Oldham

Are you a qualified English teacher looking for your next role in a 'Good' secondary school?

Due to an internal promotion, our client secondary school in Oldham are seeking an inspirational and creative English teacher from September 2019. This role will initially be a one year placement, with a strong possibility of the perfect candidate earning a contract with the school.

  • Full time Teacher of English from September 2019
  • Initial one year placement with the strong possibility of earning a contract
  • Pay in line with MPS (£23,720-£35,008)
  • Teaching English up to GCSE level

Our client secondary school is a popular and oversubscribed academy with over 1200 students enrolled from the surrounding areas of Lees and Springhead. Located a short drive from the M60 motorway and having good public transport links, this 'Good' school is easily accessible from a range of areas.

"The English provision at our school allows the development of reading and writing skills through the English Mastery curriculum. At KS3, students will read a variety of texts from the literary canon to develop their knowledge of literature as a whole. This is supplemented through reading for pleasure time during literacy. Above all else, we want to create a positive and enthusiastic climate for reading at our school and so developing literacy is a large part of our offering here. We use selected non-fiction texts and media to support lessons and to develop reading skills across a range of different materials. Students will also have the opportunity to write creatively and accurately through our schemes of work and expressive writing course." Head of English.

As an English teacher at our client school, candidates should hold QTS in the UK alongside other relevant qualifications. You will be expected to teach up to both KS3 and KS4, so experience teaching GCSE English is desirable. The English department encourage collaborative planning, and the ability to plan and deliver highly engaging lessons to inspire and motivate the students in attendance at the school would be most valuable.

If you would like to apply for this post as an English teacher, please apply via the link below or send an updated CV to Chris Beckenham at Manchester North Secondary directly, alternatively call on the number provided for further information.
