Contract: Full-time (long-term / permanent opportunity considered)

A well-established mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their department from April 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking English department, committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that inspire a love of literature and language.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality English lessons

  • Teaching KS3 and KS4 English Language and Literature

  • Assessing, tracking, and reporting on student progress

  • Contributing to the wider life of the department and school

  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement

The Ideal Candidate

The school is keen to hear from teachers who:

  • Hold QTS (or are working towards it)

  • Have experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Are confident delivering both English Language and Literature

  • Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • Are enthusiastic, reflective, and committed to student progress

ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply, with appropriate support available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
