English Lecturer / Teacher – Further Education College (Bromley)

Location: Bromley
Contract: Full-time / Permanent or Long-term
Salary: Competitive – in line with college pay scales (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Lecturer/Teacher to join a vibrant Further Education college in Bromley. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons to learners across a range of levels, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or a passionate ECT looking to develop their career within a supportive FE environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons to students aged 16–19 and adult learners.

  • Teach GCSE English and Functional Skills (Levels 1–2).

  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Track, assess, and report on student progress, ensuring targets are met.

  • Support learners with their literacy development and exam preparation.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of the department.

Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.

  • A degree or Level 5+ qualification in English (or a closely related subject).

  • Experience teaching English in a college or secondary school setting.

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting student success.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
