English Graduates

Are you a recent English Graduate? Do you have experience working with children and young people who require extra support with English?

Teaching Personnel are working alongside a large Secondary School in Salford who is currently looking for an English Graduate to support students in need of additional literacy support.

  • Part-time English Graduate role available from October 2019 for one term, with the hopes of being extended
  • Support students in a small group or on a 1:1 basis
  • 2-3 days per week
  • Providing additional literacy support to Year 7-9 students
  • Opportunity to gain experience in a Secondary School setting

Working as an English Graduate in our client school, you will be working alongside class teachers supporting students in Year 7-9, who require extra literacy support. The successful candidate will be expected to support some students who can show signs of occasional challenging behaviour as a result of their difficulties. Therefore, further responsibilities will involve incorporating inventions to aid the students' learning and behaviour with the hopes of raising their progress and attainment. Some students may also need assistance on a 1:1 basis when they are withdrawn from English lessons to attend literacy intervention sessions and the prospective candidate should be able to plan and deliver these.

To be considered for this English Graduate role:

  • It is required that you have some form of experience with young people and preferably with individuals who have required extra support as these skills will be highly transferrable.
  • Must have an English degree or be in your final year of university
  • Our client school would like candidates that are familiar with students that are known to show challenging behaviour.

Our partner school is based in Salford and can be accessed via the M60 and A580 from surrounding areas of Greater Manchester such as Bolton and Bury for those who have their own transportation. For non-drivers, there are several forms of public transport with links to Bolton, Bury and central Manchester.

For immediate consideration, please submit a full CV to Megan Knight. To obtain further information, please contact the Manchester West Secondary Office on the contact number provided below;
