Job description
Tutor – Engagement Support – Wigan (WN1 / WN2)
We are looking for dedicated tutors in Wigan (WN1 / WN2) to provide 1:1 support for pupils who need help re-engaging with education. Many of these learners may be out of school due to anxiety, SEND, SEMH, or gaps in learning, and your role will be to help them rebuild confidence and reconnect with learning in a supportive way.
What the role involves:

Delivering 1:1 sessions in a pupil’s home or local community setting

Focusing on engagement and confidence, as well as academic progress

Supporting learners with barriers to education through patience and encouragement
-
Adapting sessions to meet individual needs and learning styles

Recording progress and providing feedback to parents, carers, or local authorities
We’re looking for tutors with:

Experience working with children or young people (teaching, tutoring, or classroom support)

Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate learners
-
A flexible, calm and supportive approach
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
What we offer:

£25–£30 per hour, depending on experience

Flexible weekday hours during the school day

Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella deductions

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
