Early Career Teacher (ECT) / Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Huyton, L36
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Temporary (minimum one term, with potential for extension)
Hours: Full Time
Pay Rate: £100 – £120 per day

Are you an Early Career Teacher (ECT) eager to gain practical classroom experience before stepping into a full teaching role? This is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a supportive and inclusive primary school in Huyton.

This role is perfect for ECTs who want to develop confidence, refine teaching skills, and make a real impact on pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Cover classes in the teacher’s absence, delivering pre-planned lessons in KS2.
  • Provide targeted SEN support on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assist teachers with planning, interventions, and strategies to raise attainment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified ECT or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong classroom presence and the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Passion for supporting pupils with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
