Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant – Old Swan (L13)
Location: Old Swan, Liverpool
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Full-time (school hours), Term-time only
Salary: £85–£95 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Old Swan area. This role involves delivering targeted phonics interventions to pupils across EYFS and KS1, supporting their reading and writing development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering small-group and 1:1 phonics interventions.
- Using a range of phonics schemes such as Letters and Sounds, Read Write Inc., and Jolly Phonics.
- Monitoring pupil progress and adapting sessions to meet individual needs.
- Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to ensure effective support.
- Encouraging confidence and engagement in early literacy skills.
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience delivering phonics interventions in a primary setting.
- Is familiar with different phonics schemes and approaches.
- Is patient, enthusiastic, and able to motivate young learners.
- Holds a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Has strong communication skills and a commitment to pupil progress.
