Early Years Teaching Assistant

A Specialist School in York is currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to support within their Early Years class. The class includes students with Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties; therefore the successful candidate must have experience of, or be willing to carry out personal care.

The academy offers education to those from 2 years up to 11 with a range of specialist needs. Often various methods of communication such as Makaton and PECs are used. The school has excellent facilities to cater for individual needs and has an Ofsted grading of ‘Good’.

The ideal candidate must have experience or a strong understanding of complex needs and Autism. This can be from any of the following backgrounds:

- Support work in schools - Support work in Care - Supporting adults with Special Needs - Youth Work - Nursing / medical background

The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:00pm.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
