Pay: From £89 per day (pro-rata for part-time)
Hours: Monday–Friday | Full-time and part-time roles available
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newport is seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Nursery and Reception, focusing on children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This role is ideal for someone passionate about early years education and inclusive learning, offering an immediate start and flexible hours.
The Role
As an Early Years ALN Teaching Assistant, you will work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), providing 1:1 and small-group support to children with additional needs. You’ll help pupils access learning through structured play, clear routines, and positive reinforcement.
You may support pupils with:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
-
Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
-
Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
-
Developmental delay or sensory processing challenges
Main duties include:

Supporting children during daily learning activities and routines
-
Helping implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) or EHCPs
-
Encouraging social interaction, communication, and emotional wellbeing

Promoting engagement through play-based learning and visual resources

Collaborating with class teachers and SENCO to adapt learning materials

We’re looking for someone who is:

Patient, caring, and reliable, with a genuine passion for helping children

Experienced in a school, childcare, or ALN support setting (personal experience also valued)

Knowledgeable about the EYFS curriculum and early learning strategies

Flexible and confident supporting children with varying needs
This position would suit candidates with experience as a Nursery Assistant, EYFS Practitioner, Learning Support Assistant, or ALN Classroom Assistant.
Essential Requirements

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Two professional references from the past 24 months
