Dyslexia Teaching Assistant

A school located in Tameside is looking for a Dyslexia specialist to join the support staff as a Teaching Assistant.

The role will focus specifically on working with children who have Dyslexia, ensuring that these children are able to effectively engage with the mainstream process.

The required individual will have experience working with children with Dyslexia (or with another SEN provision)

This experience may be in a school previously, but may also have been within a youth/community setting/care setting.

Applications are welcomed from those who have passion for working within the realm of SEN. 

As a Dyslexia specialist, it is vital that the given candidate is able to:

  • Offering consistent support with regards to tackling student workloads.
  • Understand the complexities often faced by a child with Dyslexia, and beign able to implement strategies designed to combat these.
  • Monitoring student progress and academic progression.
  • Working as part of a wider support team, developing strong working relationships with the students in question as well as other staff.
  • Working with teachers to be able to best assist those with Dyslexia, and developing creative learning material to keep students engaged.
  • Managing behaviour expectations in line with school policy.
  • Pay - GBP275-350 per week, based on prior experience.

The school is located in Tameside, not far from Manchester city centre.

There are several motorways within close proximity to the school, as well as numerous public transport links.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
