The students you will support may present with challenging, disruptive or unpredictable behaviour. • Help students regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
  • Use de-escalation and restorative approaches where appropriate
  • Support students within lessons, intervention spaces and inclusion settings
  • Promote attendance, engagement and positive decision-making
  • Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral teams and teaching staff
  • Act as a consistent role model throughout the school day

✅ Who This Role Suits

This position would be particularly suitable for individuals with experience as:

  • Pastoral Support Staff
  • Alternative Provision Staff
  • Youth Offending or Community Support Workers
  • SEMH Support Workers

Transferable experience supporting vulnerable young people is highly valued.

✅ What We're Looking For

We are looking for individuals who are:

✔ Calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent

✔ Strong relationship-builders

✔ Comfortable working with challenging and unpredictable behaviour

✔ Consistent with expectations and boundaries

✔ Patient, adaptable and solution-focused

✔ Reliable and committed to supporting young people

✔ Able to maintain professionalism during difficult situations

✔ Passionate about helping students achieve positive outcomes

✅ Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Access to a vehicle (essential)
  • Full-time availability
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

✅ Why Apply?

  • Make a meaningful difference to young people's lives
  • Work within supportive mainstream secondary schools
  • Gain valuable experience in behaviour, inclusion and pastoral support
