Job description
A vibrant and ambitious secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a passionate and skilled Dance Teacher to join their creative arts faculty from October 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher who is enthusiastic about inspiring young people through dance, movement, and performance.
The school prides itself on offering a dynamic curriculum that encourages students to express themselves, think creatively, and develop confidence in their abilities. Dance plays a vital role within the wider arts provision at the school, with a healthy uptake at both KS3 and KS4 and opportunities for students to perform in regular showcases and school productions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons that cater to a range of abilities. There will also be scope to contribute to extracurricular clubs, dance competitions, and cross-departmental projects, working alongside the Drama and Music departments to support a rich performing arts culture.
Key responsibilities:

Plan and deliver high-quality Dance lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and potentially KS5)

Prepare students for GCSE Dance, supporting both theoretical and practical elements of the course

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity and self-expression

Contribute to school performances, dance clubs, and wider extracurricular opportunities

Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback and support

Engage with parents, carers, and colleagues to support student outcomes
The ideal candidate will:

Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

Have experience teaching Dance in a secondary school setting

Be confident in teaching both practical and written components of the Dance curriculum

Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills
-
Be enthusiastic, creative, and committed to student development
-
Be keen to play an active role in school life beyond the classroom

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
