D&T Teacher - FLT School - Newtown, Powys

One of our clients based in Newtown, Powys are currently looking for Design & Technology Teacher to Teach in a Focus Learning Trust school. The school have requested for someone until the end of the summer term. The teacher must be able to Teach KS3&KS4 ideally with a specialism in Food technology. Having an understanding of Geography would be beneficial as the school are looking to get some of these lessons covered on the same timetable if possible.

The Focus Learning Trust Brethren's are a conservative Christian Community with strong beliefs, although these beliefs are not pinned on to the non Brethren teachers, the teachers just need to be able to support the beliefs in school while Teaching their chosen subject.

The schools, Teaching and Ethos:

  • All FLT pupils start life in mainstream and then go to an FLT school from Yr3
  • They use a lot of self-directed learning, 50% of the teaching is in the classroom and 50% is self-directed where the teacher sets a topic, pupils go into a room, research and then come back in to present
  • Qualified Teachers only- Experienced or NQT welcome to apply.
  • KS3 & KS4 Science must be able to be taught- Strong subject knowledge required.
  • Teachers need to be nice, genuine people with a calm disposition. Personality is very important.
  • No real need for behaviour management skills as there is no challenging behaviour within the classroom
