Cover Teacher – Okehampton Area
Contract Type: Full-Time / Long-Term
Key Stages: KS3 & KS4

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a flexible and reliable Cover Teacher to work in Secondary schools around the Okehampton area. This full-time position involves delivering lessons across a range of subjects at key stages 3 and 4, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the usual class teacher.

This role is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers seeking variety and graduates/unqualified teachers who are keen to gain classroom experience before pursuing teacher training.

The Role

As a Cover Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students stay engaged and on task.

  • Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.

  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour.

  • Adapt to a range of subjects and classes throughout the school day.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

  • Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – desirable but not essential.

  • Has strong classroom management and communication skills.

  • Can quickly build rapport with students and staff.

  • Is adaptable, confident, and reliable.

  • Is committed to supporting the progress and wellbeing of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
