Cover Supervisor Role- Dereham

About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to join our network of secondary schools across Dereham (Norfolk). As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences by delivering pre-prepared lessons and managing classroom behaviour. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with prior classroom experience who are passionate about education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain on task with the provided work.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Support students with their learning where possible and encourage engagement.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and classroom activity.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence to manage groups of young people aged 11–16.
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and ensure learning continues in the teacher’s absence.
  • Previous experience working with young people (in schools, youth groups, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring) is desirable.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  • Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check, ideally on the DBS Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
