What is a Cover Supervisor?

Cover Supervisors will be called upon to cover lessons in the absence of the permanent class teacher, supervising a class on students with pre-set work. Applicants do not have to be qualified in teaching to become a cover supervisor, although some experience working with young people is expected. This is a great way to gain invaluable secondary school experience if you are considering a career in teaching or applying for your PGCE.

Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor

• Experience supervising full classes in the absence of the class teacher (for sickness, training day etc.)
• Across a range of KS3 and KS4 subjects - depending on the absences of the day
• Delivering pre-set work and ensuring pupils remain on task with this
• Collecting the completed work and handing it to the appropriate teacher

The successful cover supervisor will work in one of our averaged sized client secondary schools in Macclesfield which boasts good pupil behaviour and is very supportive of incoming support staff. The school is located just outside of Macclesfield town centre, making it accessible for those who live in and around South Manchester and Cheshire East!
