Job description

A well-established secondary school in Dorchester is looking to recruit a full-time Cover Supervisor to join their staff as soon as possible.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a confident, proactive individual to support the smooth running of the school by maintaining high-quality learning in lessons where teachers are absent. It’s an ideal position for graduates, those considering a career in teaching, or education professionals keen to broaden their classroom experience.

Main duties will include:

  • Overseeing whole-class lessons across KS3 and KS4 using work set by teaching staff
  • Creating a calm, productive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
  • Ensuring the school’s behaviour and safeguarding expectations are consistently followed
  • Assisting students with their work and encouraging positive participation
  • Communicating with teachers and pastoral staff to provide relevant feedback

The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience working with students of secondary school age (school-based experience is a bonus)
  • Be confident managing a classroom with strong behaviour management skills
  • Be flexible, professional, and comfortable covering a range of subjects
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and a proactive attitude
  • Hold a degree or have relevant educational experience (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
