Cover Supervisor

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming and high-achieving mainstream secondary school in Salisbury who are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join their team after October half-term. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for education to gain valuable experience within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lessons to classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment is maintained. The role requires excellent classroom management skills, confidence in leading groups of students, and the ability to engage learners across a range of subjects at KS3 and KS4 levels.

This position would suit a graduate aspiring to pursue a career in teaching, a current HLTA, or an experienced Cover Supervisor looking for a new challenge. Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain on task and follow set work.

• Maintain a calm, safe, and focused classroom environment.

• Follow school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding.

• Support students in their learning and encourage positive engagement.

• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students (school-based or in youth settings).

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to adapt and manage behaviour effectively.

• A confident, professional, and approachable manner.

• A valid child workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
