Job description

Cover Supervisor – Full-Time – Poole – September Start

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Poole is seeking a dedicated and confident Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time basis from September.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring that students remain on task and complete the work set. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in education or a strong interest in working with young people in a school setting. The school offers a supportive and inclusive environment, making it an excellent place to develop classroom experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the classroom and maintaining a positive learning environment in the teacher’s absence

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils stay engaged and focused

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour

  • Supporting the school’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally in a school or educational setting

  • Strong classroom management skills and the confidence to lead lessons independently

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A genuine interest in education and supporting young people

This role would suit graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors, or individuals with relevant youth work or tutoring experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
