Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools (Supply)

Location: Plymouth, Devon
Pay Rate: £110 - £120 per day
Contract Type: Supply / Temporary basis

Job Description:

We are seeking reliable, confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to work on a supply basis in a range of secondary schools across Plymouth. This role is ideal for individuals who are looking to gain classroom experience, are considering a career in teaching, or simply enjoy working with young people in an educational setting.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lesson plans and managing the classroom in the absence of the regular class teacher. You are not expected to teach subject content, but rather to ensure students remain on task and engaged with their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising students in the absence of the regular teacher

  • Delivering set lesson plans and ensuring classroom activities run smoothly

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour

  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary-age students (preferred but not essential)

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different school settings

  • A proactive and professional approach

  • A valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
