Job description

Are you ready to play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning in a busy secondary school located in the heart of Oldham? We are looking for a confident and responsible Cover Supervisor to join our team from September.

Situated within a diverse and vibrant community, the school is committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of teachers, ensuring that students remain focused, engaged, and behave appropriately throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising whole classes during planned and unplanned teacher absences

  • Following detailed lesson plans and delivering set work to ensure continuity of learning

  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

  • Supporting the school’s behaviour policy and safeguarding procedures

  • Reporting on student engagement and any incidents during lessons to teaching staff

  • Assisting with the preparation of learning resources when needed

  • Building positive relationships with students to support their educational progress

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, is highly organised, and thrives in a fast-paced school environment. Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
