Our client secondary school in the Trafford area of Greater Manchester is looking for a full time (option for part time to undertake a job share) cover supervisor to join their teaching team during the next half term.

This role would suit a cover supervisor with prior experience of the role or a confident graduate/individual who has experience of working with students aged between 11 and 16. This experience could have come from a prior experience in a youth club setting or as a sports coach for example.

Key features of this cover supervisor role:

  • Pay will be dependent upon experience but opportunity to earn up to GBP350 per week
  • Full time cover supervisor required: start during the next half term in November (option for part time)
  • Duration: 2 terms in the first instance, option to progress onto a school-based contract
  • Hours: 8am – 3:30pm ideally
  • Invaluable teaching experience covering all subjects and year groups; ideal for a future PGCE application
  • Career development opportunities into teaching and access to regular continuous professional development opportunities

The specific role of a cover supervisor is to cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher and deliver their pre-set and planned work. The successful cover supervisor should be flexible in their approach, looking to gain further paid experience within a secondary school and be able to engage a classroom of students; managing behaviour effectively.  The school are looking to arrange shadow days in the first 2 week following the half term, starting as soon as possible for the right cover supervisors.

The school is highly supportive of all staff especially its large team of support staff. The school already has a full time, permanent cover supervisor who will act as a buddy to the successfully appointed cover supervisor.
