Cover Supervisor
Job description

Are you interested in pursuing a career within a secondary school?
Are you an aspirational teacher of the future and want experience in an education setting?
Fulfilling the position of a cover supervisor will give you the necessary experience for a future PGCE application as well as invaluable experience within a classroom setting. You will gain knowledge on how to command a classroom as well as build on your classroom and behaviour management by delivering pre-planned work in the absence of a member of teaching staff.
The role of a cover supervisor involves acting as the class teacher in the teacher’s absence, ensuring students remain engaged and on task. Successful cover supervisors are required to be flexible in their approach with a willingness to cover a variety of subjects across the age range 11 – 16 years old. The successful cover supervisor should also be confident and motivated in their approach as well as able to adapt to various secondary school procedures. In return, the cover supervisors will gain the opportunity to work full days or certain periods of time throughout the school day as well as network in a variety of secondary schools. Cover supervisors are often prioritised for continuity with schools regularly asking for cover supervisors they have experience of. This often leads to consistent longer term work for those motivated and successful candidates.
Key highlights of the Cover Supervisor position:
- Part time, full time and flexible opportunities at various secondary schools in the Levenshulme/South Manchester area
- Career development opportunities through Teaching Personnel’s CPD training
- Pay ranging between GBP65 and GBP70 per day depending on experience
- Opportunity to work in September 2021 at the start of the new academic year
If you are a current Teaching Assistant, cover supervisor, behaviour mentor or have experience working with young people and are positive in your approach, you are encouraged to apply or get in touch for any further information.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please don’t hesitate to “apply now” by clicking the button below and send an updated CV to Shiv in the Manchester South Secondary team.
