Job description

A thriving mainstream secondary school in Poole is seeking to appoint a full-time Cover Supervisor to join their team from February.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and motivated individual to play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring high standards of learning are maintained in the absence of teaching staff. The role is particularly well suited to graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced education professionals looking to broaden their classroom experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising whole classes across KS3 and KS4 using pre-set work

  • Maintaining a calm, focused, and inclusive learning environment

  • Upholding the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies at all times

  • Supporting students with their work and encouraging positive engagement

  • Liaising with teaching and pastoral staff to provide feedback where required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with secondary-aged students (school-based experience desirable)

  • Demonstrate strong classroom presence and effective behaviour management skills

  • Be adaptable, professional, and able to work across a variety of subjects

  • Show excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning support

  • Hold a degree or relevant education experience (advantageous but not essential)

This is a full-time position, starting in February, based at a mainstream secondary school in Poole.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
