Cover Supervisor

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a supportive and welcoming school environment.

The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. Work will be pre-set, and your role will be to ensure students remain on task, manage behaviour effectively, and create a purposeful learning environment.
You will:

Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects

Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

Provide clear instructions and support to students

Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment

Report back to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour
The Ideal Candidate:

Confident managing groups of secondary-aged students
-
Strong communication and organisational skills
-
Previous experience working with young people (school-based experience desirable but not essential)

A calm, professional manner and the ability to think on your feet

A genuine interest in education
This role would suit graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors, or individuals with youth work or coaching backgrounds looking to transition into education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
