Job description

Core Subject Tutors needed in Durham

Teaching Personnel needs tutors to deliver 1:1 support across Durham. You'll be working with students who need extra help in English, Maths, and Science, either because they're out of mainstream education or they're struggling to keep up. This role is perfect for current students or recent graduates.

Sessions are face to face, usually at the school. You tailor lessons to what each student needs. Some will be working towards exams; others just need to catch up on basics.

What you'll be doing:

Teaching core subjects 1:1. Planning sessions based on individual gaps and goals. Building rapport with students who might be disengaged or anxious. Tracking progress and adjusting your approach as needed. Some students will be easy to work with; others will test your patience and creativity.

You need:

  • Tutoring experience with children and young people
  • Subject knowledge across English, Maths or Science
  • Ability to adapt lessons for different learning styles and abilities
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willing to get one)
  • Reliable transport

Pay: £100 - £120 per day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
