Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a SEN Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming specialist secondary school in Oldham from September 2026.

This specialist secondary provision supports students with a variety of additional learning and behavioural needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
- ADHD
- Communication and interaction difficulties

The Role
As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will take ownership of the classroom during teacher absence, ensuring learning continues uninterrupted.
Using pre-planned lessons, you will confidently manage behaviour, support engagement, and adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of students. This is a highly rewarding role that combines classroom leadership with meaningful student support.

Your Responsibilities
✅ Lead and supervise whole-class learning in the absence of teaching staff
✅ Deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of curriculum subjects
✅ Create a positive, productive and engaging learning environment
✅ Maintain high expectations for behaviour and participation
✅ Adapt lesson delivery to support students with additional needs
✅ Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
✅ Monitor student engagement and progress throughout lessons
✅ Provide clear feedback to teaching staff following lessons
✅ Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
✅ Follow safeguarding procedures and professional standards at all times
We're Looking For
- Previous experience working within a secondary school setting
- Experience independently leading groups of young people
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- A calm, resilient and professional approach
- Confidence working with students who require additional support
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
Desirable Experience
While not essential, we'd love to hear from candidates with:
- Previous Cover Supervisor experience
- Experience working within specialist schools, PRUs or alternative provisions
- Knowledge of SEMH, Autism and challenging behaviour
- Understanding of restorative practices and positive behaviour strategies
- A degree or relevant educational qualification
- Ambitions to progress into teaching or educational leadership
