Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our partner Secondary Schools in Newport, Caerloen, Cwmbran and Ponytpool as a Cover Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for those eager to gain experience in the education sector, particularly individuals considering a future career in teaching.
What does the classroom cover role entail? A cover supervisor requires no qualification and will deliver lessons to pupils in the absence of a teacher. All work will be pre-prepared, and you will not be expected to do any marking. You will be responsible for managing the classroom, ensuring that work is being completed, and support is provided to pupils where necessary. The most important element of the role is the ability to manage classroom behaviour, which is why we invite those with any experience dealing with challenging behaviour to apply for the role. We will provide you with cover supervisor training!
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across different subjects and year groups in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain discipline, in line with school policies.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure consistent and high-quality educational delivery.
- Act as a professional role model, maintaining focus and positive behaviour to foster a productive learning environment.
- Use strong time management and communication skills to create an efficient classroom experience.
Requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced Child Only DBS (we will help you obtain this)
- Be registered with the EWC (we will help you apply for this)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
