Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of specialist SEN and SEMH schools in Bolton and Wigan. These roles are full-time and offer excellent long-term opportunities, including temp-to-perm placements for the right candidates.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and who can bring patience, resilience, and a positive attitude into the classroom.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs in both classroom and specialist settings
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons and differentiated activities
  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social development needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques where required
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and wellbeing
  • May include personal care duties depending on pupil needs and school requirements
  • Support pupils with daily routines, transitions, and structured activities
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support individual learning plans
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (SEN/SEMH preferred)
  • Strong understanding of behaviour support and safeguarding practices
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable learners
  • Willingness to support personal care if required
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
