Biology Teacher - Chesterfield (Part-time 0.8)

Teach Biology up to Key Stage 5.

Work closely with the Head of Science to plan and outline departmental strategies.

Role starting March 2019 until the end of this academic year on a part-time basis

Can you teach Biology at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5?

Are you passionate about pastoral care and student engagement?

Are you able to employ a variety of teaching strategies to support, engage, and challenge students?

Are you a proven behaviour manager?

You will be required to teach Biology across Key Stages 3 - 5 and to contribute in the development of pastoral care programs within the school.

The school has a small and close knit Science team. You will have the opportunity to provide input of departmental strategies and support the Head of Science with decision making.

You will be a successful manager of student behaviour and will be able to continue to reflect on your practice to ensure that the students continue to be challenged and find learning inclusive and relevant.

If interested in this role you must have the following:

- Qualified teacher status (QTS) and recent experience of teaching in a UK classroom setting

- PGCE in Biology or degree level equivalent

- Experience teaching Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.

- Experience in a secondary school within the last two years

- Experience managing student behaviour

- Excellent subject knowledge and passion for the Sciences

The school is rated 'good' by Ofsted. Almost half the school is identified as EAL and students come from varied socio-economic backgrounds.

The key to the student's success has been, and will continue to be, the ability for teachers to build relationships, and support students, both inside and outside the classroom.
