Behavioural Teaching Assistant

Location: Bodmin, Cornwall
Full-Time | Temporary (Maternity Cover)
Start Date: 15th September
Contract Length: Until end of maternity leave (exact dates to be confirmed)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a secondary school in Bodmin. This is a full-time, temporary position to cover maternity leave, providing vital support to students who experience behavioural, social, or emotional difficulties.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with students needing additional behavioural support

  • Assist with the implementation of individual behaviour plans and tailored interventions

  • Support teaching staff in managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive learning environment

  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships

  • Collaborate with the pastoral and SEND teams to ensure a joined-up approach to student support

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (in schools, care, or youth services)

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach

  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff

  • Works well as part of a team but is also confident working independently

  • Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and supporting student wellbeing

  • Holds relevant training or qualifications within mental health (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
